Before the Hurricanes.
2003–2006 · Sons Of The Beach
Westhampton Beach competed as Team 1019, Sons Of The Beach, beginning in 2003. Its 2006 record includes a Judges’ Award (Day 1). Team 358’s regional directory connects this earlier program with Team 3171.
These predecessor achievements are kept separate from Team 3171’s competition record.
The 2013 New York State Senate resolution credits student Nick Panzarino with helping found the team four years earlier, placing the organizing effort around 2009. Team 3171’s official rookie competition year is 2010. The resolution names coaches Anthony Kryl and Justin Kuey.
Alliance partner Team 358’s 2013 history uses the earlier name P.R.I.D.E. for 3171. That season, 3171 won Long Island with 358 and 1796 and reached the championship’s Newton Division.
Help document the name change and the years between the earlier program and Team 3171. We still need dates, photographs and firsthand stories.
